Municipal Infrastructure

G&M has extensive experience in the design and construction of municipal infrastructure, including underground services such as water and sewage systems and surface works such as road construction. G&M’s experience can be applied to a variety of applications including Class Environmental Assessments for municipal projects, new construction and upgrades to support development projects as well as rehabilitation and replacement of existing infrastructure. With the use of state of the art surveying, design and modelling software, G&M staff can provides a full range of services throughout the planning, design and construction phases of municipal infrastructure projects.

Recent Projects

Kennedy Road Watermain Replacement, Region of Peel

G&M completed the design and contract administration of the installation of 1 km of 600 mm diameter concrete pressure pipe watermain along Kennedy Road in the City of Brampton. The construction involved directional boring of a section of watermain in order to minimise traffic interruption.

Old Church Road Watermain, Region of Peel

G&M completed the design and contract administration of the installation of 4 km of 400 mm diameter PVC watermain along Old Church Road in the Town of Caledon. G&M also completed the design and contract administration of a 35 L/s duplex booster pumping station with standby power and SCADA controls. The watermain project included directional drilling for approximately 700m of 500mm HDPE for three creek crossings.

Arkell Road Reconstruction, City of Guelph

G&M completed the detailed design for the reconstruction of 1.5 km of Arkell Road from Gordon Street to Victoria Road. The project included a stormwater management system consisting of an infiltration gallery to address drainage. Also included in the project was the design and construction of storm and sanitary sewers and watermains, upgrades to the road cross-section from rural to urban, intersection design including turning roads and road alignment.

Huron Park Street Reconstruction, Municipality of South Huron

Approximately 4.3 km of residential streets were reconstructed. All roads were converted from rural cross sections with ditches to full urban section with curbs and gutters, storm sewers and sidewalks. Full sanitary sewer and watermain reconstruction was completed, in addition to 300 m of storm sewer outlet and 190 m of sanitary sewer outlet.

Palmerston Lions Heritage Park, Town of Minto

G&M were responsible for the brownfield redevelopment of the former Canadian National Railway yard in Palmerston including site grading and drainage, storm sewer and storm water management design, and soil remediation to create 7 hectares of designated park land bounded generally by Main Street, William Street, King Street and Trailer Park Road in Palmerston.

Snyder Avenue Reconstruction, Township of Woolwich

G&M completed detailed design, contract administration and construction inspection for the replacement of municipal infrastructure (sanitary sewer, cellar drain sewers, watermain, storm sewers and related service laterals), reconstruction of road and boulevard including construction of retaining walls on Snyder Avenue South and boulevard reconstruction (curb and sidewalk) on Maple Street in Elmira.

Canada Avenue Reconstruction, Municipality of South Huron

G&M completed detailed design, contract administration and construction inspection for the replacement of municipal infrastructure (sanitary sewer, watermain, storm sewers and related service laterals) and reconstruction of road with new curbs, sidewalks, boulevards and a precast concrete headwall storm outlet structure. In total 1100 m of road was reconstructed.
