Gamsby and Mannerow Limited Partners with Can-Net
GPS Reference Station Network

Gamsby and Mannerow Limited is pleased to announce that it has partnered with Can-Net. As part of this GPS Reference Station network, Gamsby and Mannerow Limited has installed a permanent GPS base station at our Listowel office.

The Gamsby and Mannerow Limited GPS base station in Listowel extends the boundary of the Virtual Reference Station (VRS) GPS network to the Listowel area. This allows users to work within the VRS network and up to 30km outside the VRS network from Listowel. The next closest base stations are in Stratford, Guelph, and Orangeville.

Can-Net is a series of GPS base stations which are linked together to provide GPS data streams for precise cm level RTK or post processed positional applications in southwestern Ontario. For real-time applications, the data is delivered over the internet, linked to rover receivers using the cellular wireless technology of 1X and GPRS. For more information on Can-Net, visit www.can-net.ca.

This investment is another example of how Gamsby and Mannerow Limited effectively uses technology to meet the needs of our clients and the demands of our projects.

Gamsby and Mannerow Limited adds a Trimble
R8 GPS Rover Receiver to its Survey Crew

In November 2005, Gamsby and Mannerow Limited took delivery of a Trimble R8 GPS rover receiver complete with a Trimble TSC2 data collector.

The Trimble R8 receiver works in RTK mode by receiving base station corrections from the Can-Net base station network through a cell phone link. This eliminates the need for setting up a base station for each site visit. The Trimble TSC2 data collector communicates to the Trimble R8 GPS receiver and the cell phone using wireless Bluetooth technology.

The Trimble R8 GPS receiver, linked to the Can-Net base station network allows Gamsby and Mannerow Limited to work with total station accuracies without having to worry about line of sight. Surveying efficiencies are being rapidly realized by the crews with not having multiple station setups throughout the work day.

Gamsby and Mannerow Limited has been using Robotic total stations and AutoLock total stations for a number of years and this GPS investment adds to the effectiveness of our survey equipment and services. This provides our staff with the tools to complete the required tasks safely, accurately and efficiently.

GPS surveying with the Can-Net network is available from our Guelph and Listowel offices.

For additional information or inquires, please contact Steve Conway in our Guelph office.

This investment is another example of how Gamsby and Mannerow Limited effectively uses technology to meet the needs of our clients and demands of our projects.

PROJECT UPDATES

Maitland River Retaining Wall
Municipality of North Perth

Work is almost complete on the Maitland River Retaining Wall in Listowel between Inkerman and Elizabeth Streets as the old wall (built in 1958) was demolished and replaced with a new one.
